STEP 1: DETERMINE TOTAL GUESTS EXPECTED AT YOUR EVENT
STEP 2: DETERMINE WHAT TYPE OF EVENT

Stand Up Cocktail Style:Â 6 sq.ft per person
Cocktail Style w/ some seating:Â 8 sq.ft per person
Seated in Rows, Theater Style:Â 8 sq.ft per person
Seated Dinner @ 8' Banquets:Â 10 sq.ft per person
Seated Dinner @ 5' Rounds:Â 12 sq.ft per person

STEP 3: CONSIDER ADDITIONAL STATIONS:
Dance Floor*Â 5 sq.ft per person
Musicians/Band 3 piece:Â 100 sq.ft
Musicians/Band 5 piece:Â 250 sq.ft
Musicians/Band 7 piece:Â 300 sq.ft
DJ Table w speakers:Â 200 sq.ft
Food Buffet Lines:Â 100 sq.ft per 50 guests
Beverage Service / Bar:100 sq.ft
Gift Table w/ Guestbook:Â 50 sq.ft

*Generally, never more than 50% of the people dance at any time. Each couple requires about nine square feet. If you have a party for 200 people (100 couples), 50 couples will be the maximum number dancing.

STEP 4: ADD ALL SQUARE FOOTAGES FROM ABOVE STEPS TO DETERMINE TOTAL SQUARE FEET NEEDED

20x20 = 400 sq.ft.
20x30' = 600 sq.ft.
20x40' = 800 sq.ft
20x60' = 1200 sq.ft.
40x40' = 1600 sq.ft
